Flopsy Girl and Teeth Problems

Flopsy Girl has been full of herself today. The 2 foots took her to our vet Francis Harcourt-Brown last night, and Francis told them lots of things about bunny teeth. It seems that Flopsy Girls molars are growing at a slant inwards. This means that she will have to go regularly to have them burred down so that they don't scratch her mouth. Apparently, it's essential that buns always have enough calcium, otherwise, they lose bone in the jaw. It's particularly important that young buns are properly fed, as teeth problems can occur from diet deficiencies in the 1st few weeks of life. Flopsy said it all got a bit gory after that, as the 2 foots were looking at rabbit skulls with different tooth formations. It seems that our teeth keep growing until we are about 6 years old, and after that they stop, so Flopsy girl should be all right in another 3 years! Flopsy said though that what worried her, was when the 2 foots were talking about how bunny teeth can grow roots so long that they actually come out of the bottom of the jawbone which can cause abscesses. Another problem is that if the front teeth don't meet properly, then the roots of the top ones can actually penetrate the eye socket UGH!!!

Sorry to go on so long, but I just wanted my readers to know that if they have any problems with their teeth, then they have to make sure that their 2 foot takes them to a really good bunny vet without any delay.
