Dandy's Journal revisited

15 years ago today, Dandy had sad news.

Some sad new & this week's votes
Oct. 20th, 2004 at 12:09 PM

First of all, I'm afraid I have some sad news for you all. Duchess, who has been with the Hairy Mob for absolutely ages now decided to go to the rainbow bridge yesterday. We will of course celebrate her life in the usual way by having a HUGE wake!!!

Now for the results of this week's votes.

1. From Brambles Pack
2-Foots are to STOP taking us to see the vet!
There were 17 votes for, and 5 against, however, I think that we should take Melster's advice and add the word "enforced" as we may actually want to go to the vet's sometimes.

2. From the Jersey Mob
2-Foots must NOT keep any plants that are poisonous to bunnies
This one had 21 votes for and none against, so please make sure that your 2-foots throw away any poisonous plants without delay

3. From The Jersey Mob
Whenever the 2-foots go out for food for us, they MUST make sure that they bring herbs
Again there were 21 votes for and none against, so we have LOTS of lovely herbs to look forward to!

4. From Pry-Minister Dandy
I want to give special responsibility to the Spirit Buns. I propose that we form an "Upper Chamber". We can call this special place "The Rainbow Chamber". The idea is, that after the rest of us have voted on things, then the spirit buns can take a 2nd look at what we have decided, and if they think we are wrong, they can ask us to have another vote just to make sure. I think this would help us to avoid making hasty decisions which we may come to regret in the future.
The final resolution had 20 votes for, and none against, so it gives me great pleasure to announce that the rainbow chamber is duly constituted. I propose that our two most active spirit buns Melster & Bunnybunny get together and organise it as soon as possible.

Thumper-Binx was always a wise old bun, and more than that a very good friend. I'm sure that we would all be delighted for him to take an active part.... Especially as Melster & Bunnybunny seem to be shirking...

Shirking?!
Listen pal, things are done at a much more leisurely pace here in the spirit world so you cannot always expect instant decisions! We also have a lot more buns to consult as you can imagine.
I can see you have been sensible enough to include my suggestions about enforced vet visits in this weeks results so obviously The Rainbow Chamber is demonstrating it worth already!

I presume I will have to resign from my post as Thumper of Bunnymint so who will succeed me?

(PS The Pry-Minister should note that I am going to be busy in another part of the spirit world from Friday til next Wednesday, so will not not be able to attend to any Bunnymint matters til I return. I'm sure the others will be fine without me or they are welcome to wait for my input if they want.
(But realistically we all know I will be giving my opinion anyway, whether it is still wanted or not!)

Re: Shirking?!
Oh Melster, I know you so well... I KNEW that my comments would prompt a reaction! I think as outgoing Thumper of the Bunny-mint, you should nominate your own successor, after all, you have done a very good job as Thumper, and you will be a hard act to follow... So I don't want anybun to blame me for choosing a replacement that might not be as good as you have been!

I trust that when you return from whatever business is taking you away that you will tell us all about your plans for the Rainbow Chamber, but don't forget to involve Bunnybunny & Thumper-Binx

Dearest Duchess
Well Violet and the other hairy mob spirit buns have certainly been pleased to see Duchess and although she is missing her Duke and the rest of the mob she is very pleased to have her leg back and be reunited with her buddies. (She said to tell everybun Violet has mellowed - it must be love!)

We have explained to her that although we will give her a few weeks to relax and enjoy her new surroundings she will soon have to knuckle down to the important work of The Rainbow Chamber - though she replied she would much prefer enjoying cocktails at The Rainbow Rooms!

Duchess is hoping her wake can rival other recent wakes - it's getting quite competitive up here and Peter is running a book on how Duchesses wake will compare! So Duchess requests that everybun to pull out all the stops to make her wake the biggest and best (and I have to agree, since I have a fiver on this!)

Dandy's Journal revisited

15 years ago today, Flopsy Girl was sulking.

Flopsy in a sulk
Oct. 19th, 2004 at 12:51 PM

So what have I done now you may ask? Well nothing that's what! It's not stopped Flopsy Girl from going into a sulk though. As you know, my best girl was very ill a little while ago, so now she has to take medicine twice a day every day. It's not so bad for her though, as it's not nasty medicine, and straight away afterwards, treats are brought out... but you see... there's the problem...

When the treats are brought out, there's always enough for both of us, so I join in... What's wrong with that you may well ask? Well Flopsy Girl has got it into her head that as she is the only one having the medicine, then she should be the only one having the treats! I mean! IS THAT FAIR? I always save all kinds of nice things for Flopsy Girl, and I spend almost all of every day looking after her and giving her licks & stuff, so a bit of bread stick and a few leaves of basil are not much to ask are they?

Hi!
1. Vets - I vote against that one 'cause I really felt much better after visiting Ms. No Nonsense, so I think we need V-E-T s.

2. No Poison Plants - I'm all for that. There's no reason for plants to be DanJerouz!

3. Herbs - YES! 2foots should always present us with fresh herbs.

4. Yes to the Rainbow Chamber (I like the new name!)

My votes - if I can vote!
1. I agree - if we want to go and see any vets we should be able to decide this ourselves! No more enforced vets visits!

2. Obviously this is most important and 2-foots should be schooled in which plants are to be avoided as part of the basic survival skills they learn as children.

3. Herbs are an absolute must, and the allotments should be forced to keep a steady supply (and bigger packets).

4. Well, I'm not sure about this. It seems a good idea to have us Ratty-f-Eye all decisions but does that mean we can't vote anymore? Does it mean I have to be sensible and will get the blame for overturning decisions you have all made - sounds a bit scary! I abstain from this as I have a Vesty-Din-Tryst!

Dandy's Journal revisited

Too much cardboard?
Oct. 17th, 2004 at 10:43 AM

What with all the cardboard boxes we now have, I've been having a great time ripping them... and ok... yes... I do eat some of the cardboard from time to time...

The thing is, when the 2-foots brought our food yesterday, I just didn't feel like eating it, so I was FORCED to take 2 lots of medicine by the 2-foots! I got no sympathy from Flopsy Girl either. She just said it was all my fault for eating the cardboard in the first place...

The thing was though, a couple of hours later, I was RAVENOUS! I could have eaten the entire Sainsbury's allotment!!! Anyway, I enjoyed the food that I did have.

We love eating cardboard but it never puts us of our food, we love eating all the time, our 2 foot says we are eating her out of house and home i wonder if that means we won't have anywhere to live soon.

Corrugated worries
Obviously it is good to tuck into a nice mouthful of cardboard when you fancy some but if it puts you off your food . . .
I don't think cardboard has much nutritional value and after a day or two you could find energy levels running low. You might find you are too knackered to eat at all, and then then what?!
Perhaps our Helf Minister could advise. Just what is the daily recommended dose of cardboard? How much is 'safe' to eat?

Birch
Birch is very very ill and we would like people to be directed to our journal as we have updated it... Also it has a request for everybun...

Cardboard RDA
Well as the Helf Minster, i have looked into this.
Now Cardboard, comes in different forms, normal and corrugated.
Now i am thinking that the corrugated stuff must be fixed together with some form of adhesive. This i can say is not good for you, Adhesive is bad for tummy's,
A little bit of cardboard i cannot see it being a problem, after all it can't be as bad as rubber, and i love a nibble on rubber every now and again,( specially the mote control ). Anyhow, it is not recommended that you eat so much cardboard that you cannot face your dinner. As we all know the buns in the wild don't have the same sort of food as us lucky enough to be loved by somebunny. Buns in the wild don't get cardboard, so i would think it safe to say it is not part of a natural diet, therefore we can find it difficult to digest.
I am not saying DON'T EAT CARDBOARD, coz we all know that would just be too difficult to do, all i am saying is in moderation is fine.
Thank you

Boxes
This seems a little unfair. As we would have to have 32 boxes just to have 2 each. It means that we would have to live in a box and not have any space to do 500's. We therefore think it should be per burrow.

we also propose that the 2foots stop taking us to the vets...

I'm very pleased to see that entirely due to the efforts of the Bunny-mint, nearly everybun has at least one box that they can play in... Why don't we have a little competition to see who can get the most boxes at any one time? Currently, we have 3 (if you count the Bunny-mint building, which I think is fair since it is made of cardboard), but I'm sure that somebun out there must have more than that?

This week's votes
Oct. 13th, 2004 at 12:56 PM

Well I left it as late as I could so that everybun would have a chance to vote. It all got a bit confused this week as buns were proposing ammendments all over the place, so to avoid confusion, and so everybun knows exactly what they voted for, I have decided not to count them. If anybun has a problem with this, they can raise it as a new vote for next week. There is one thing that troubles me though. It has been suggested that buns should get one vote per foot. Me and Flopsy Girl do not agree with this as it discriminates against 3 legged buns, so we will not be putting that to the vote no matter what anybun says.
Anyway, here are the results:-

1. From the Jersey Mob
No 2-foot should be allowed to hug us or to pick us up without permission.
7 votes for, and 1 vote against. So make sure that you make your 2-foots aware of the new rules. I suggest you bite them if they try to break the rules until they get the hint.

2. From the Gower Bunn Gang
No 2-foot is to be allowed to go out unless they leave food for us first.
8 votes for and none against, so if your 2-foots do this then they MUST be sent the the pub for punishment.

3. From Merridoe
No claw clipping is to be allowed as we need them for digging and destroying things
7 votes for and 1 vote against. If a 2-foot tries to clip your claws then bite them on the nose.

4. From Brambles Pack
As Hop now wears a red bandage, then Hop should be officially re-named "Santa's Little Helper"
7 votes for and 2 votes against. How do you like your new name Santa's little helper?

5. From Mayflower
Each and every bun should be allowed a vote. So far it seems that each group of buns has been getting together and voting just once.
6 votes for and none against, so from now on, each and every bun can vote. This will also mean of course that me and Flopsy Girl will start voting, as we have not voted so far as we believed that it should be all of you out there that made the decisions.

6. From Melster
Spirit buns should get 2 votes as they have lead two separate lives.
5 votes for and 2 against. This means that all spirit buns can vote twice, but as Melster has already pointed out, it may well be that the 2 votes cancel each other out if a spirit bun votes once as they would have done when they were alive, and for their second vote they have changed their opinion as they now think they know better now than they did before.

So there we have it, more good stuff from everybun. Don't forget, if you want to follow up on any of the failed amendments, you can raise them as something new to vote on for next week.
I'm going to start you all off though by developing an idea that came from Brambles Pack. Instead of giving spirit buns 2 votes, let them have their own say in things by taking a second look at all the things the rest of us are voting on. The 2-foots have a similar system, they call it an "upper chamber". Well anything they can do we can do better. As the Bunny-mint cardboard house has 2 floors, we'll call the top floor the Upperty eared chamber. I'll have a long talk with Flopsy Girl and we will make the proposal formally on Monday, along with anything new that anybun else suggests to vote on.

Elect-orial fraud
Dear buns,

It has come to my attention that Dandy bun may not be able to count the votes accurately. We therefore demand a recount. Even though this doesn't change any of the decisions made. Its the fine edge of the wedge and if Dandy continues to miss count then important issues ma be affected. Therefore I propose that we give a bun (volunteers please) to check the vote count and make sure Dandy isn't cheating.

Re: Elect-orial fraud
I did say that it had all been very confused didn't I? As you say yourself, you are not questioning any of the results, it's just that you have a problem with how I counted the votes. It's a good job I didn't have a go at you lot on how you tried to influence the vote by multiplying the number of your pack by the number of feet you have. I seem to remember that you were trying to vote something like 64 times!

As Pry-minister, I have a duty to see that everybun gets a fair say, and that nobun feels cheated. If on any occasion there is a close vote and anybun thinks I have counted wrong, then I will be happy to have a recount!

Not really as I would imagine that spirit buns can make their ears do anything they want them to

Re: Discrimination
But what if they want to have lop ears? Or what if they change the style of their ears from day to day? Maybe it could be the Long Eared Chamber? (Does anyone have short ears out there?)

Melster
Oct. 13th, 2004 09:45 pm (local)
No Discrimination
The way I see it is this. In the olden days any lop eared buns living in the wild were at a big disadvantage, not having full control of their ears to focus in on any noises etc. They would have relied on their up-eared friends and family to help them avoid danger etc. I also think lop ears are not very aerodynamic, so may have slowed down any running from danger too.

By calling it the Uppity Eared Chamber or similar (if we even decide to have one) we would merely be referring back to the past as a reminder of how far buns have come, that we can now live in safety and comfort whether we have up ears or down ears, four feet or three. We need to strive for the day when all buns have the same living standards. With the progress Bunny-mint is making I feel more optimistic about this than ever before.

(I speak as a bun with one lop ear and one in between - sometimes up, sometimes down as everybun can see from my picture, kindly posted on the hairy mobs website!)

Hear Hear

Even I am a spirit bun and I can bend my ears all shape and direction. If we keep discuss this uppi ear chamber than some day we will talk about size of the ear. I think we already talking about long or short ear. I am a dwarf bunny. Not that I think size matter. I have big SMALL ears.

Voting by foot or ear does not make sense. I propose each bunny need to register for just one vote! But spirit bun has 2 vote.

Re: No Discrimination
Maybe lop eared buns should be given a set of sticky up ears that they can wear in the uppity eared chamber.

Hi, Melster! I'm all for Equal Rights (and Lefts) for all Bunnies! But I think the name of something as important as a chamber should reflect this new equality thinking to look forward to the days when all buns are considered equal no matter what!

More good news about what we are achieving with the power of the Bunny-mint. Yesterday, my 2-foot (the one with no fur on the top of his head) came home with a brand new cardboard box for us. It's bigger than our old one, but the cardboard is not as thick, so it is a lot easier to make the necessary adjustments to the position and size of the holes in it.

As far as this weeks voting goes, there are still a number of you who have not yet voted, so make sure you get your votes in soon, or you will miss tomorrows count. I must say that the hairy mob have been very quiet lately. It's not like them to sit back and let the rest of us make all the decisions...

Sorry it is late
1. No 2-foot should be allowed to hug us or to pick us up without permission. ...... YES

2. No 2-foot is to be allowed to go out unless they leave food for us first. ...... Can we answer our own question?

3. No claw clipping is to be allowed as we need them for digging and destroying things. ...... YES, (great one)

4. As Hop now wears a red bandage, then Hop should be officially re-named "Santa's Little Helper". ...... BLESS, YES

5. Each and every bun should be allowed a vote. So far it seems that each group of buns has been getting together and voting just once. ...... WE'RE VOTING!

6. Spirit buns should get 2 votes as they have lead two separate lives. ...... A VERY GOOD POINT

Another busy week in the Bunnymint with lots of things to vote for.

1. From the Jersey Mob
No 2-foot should be allowed to hug us or to pick us up without permission.

2. From the Gower Bunn Gang
No 2-foot is to be allowed to go out unless they leave food for us first.

3. From Merridoe
No claw clipping is to be allowed as we need them for digging and destroying things

4. From Brambles Pack
As Hop now wears a red bandage, then Hop should be officially re-named "Santa's Little Helper"

5. From Mayflower
Each and every bun should be allowed a vote. So far it seems that each group of buns has been getting together and voting just once.

6. From Melster
Spirit buns should get 2 votes as they have lead two separate lives.

So as you can see there is a lot to think about. Just like last week, we will leave it a couple of days before we count up all the votes so that everybun gets a chance to have their say.

3) Yes

Melsters musings
1. I agree with this 100%. Why they imagine they can pick us up at whim is a mystery to me! You don't see us licking them up all the time . . .

2. Definitely! This must be strictly enforced.

3. Definitely no claw clipping. If buns aren't doing enough digging or running so their claws are getting long and uncomfortable the Helf Minister will have to look into setting up some guy'd-lines to encourage exercise and activity in the warrens and condos.

4. I think Hop should be de-feeted on this (ha ha). I know Duchess had a different coloured bandage every week so what is to stop Hop changing from red to another colour, and then what will Santa do? No presents for us if he can't get enough help and having an 'awol' santa-helper with a blue bandage will make a laughing stock of Bunnymint and I will find it very hard to maintain order. So it has to be a definite NO to this one, and I urge every bun to vote the same!

5. I can't believe there was block voting and some buns had their views ignored! It's not a commune you know!! Yes, each bun must vote for themselves!

6. We this is very very good idea, someone very intelligent and knowledgeable must have suggested this (cough). Yes to spirit buns having 2 votes.

On that last point, I wonder if both votes would go the same way?! Because if it was already passed - on the one paw, when I was a living bun I would have said it's not fair on the living buns as most of the decisions in Bunnymint have more impact on the living buns . . . but on the other hand as a spirit bun I agree with it as we are more wise and knowledgeable . . . hmm. Food for thought!

Re: Recent comments
On the suggestion that each bun has a vote (or 2 votes) per foot. I'm not sure if this is being voted on this week or might be taken as an amendment. In my view it should be ignored . . . but just in case, I wish to point out that unless your feet are voting in different directions from each other the overall decisions will be unaffected - so all it does is make the vote counting harder and make extra work! It doesn't make any sense!
As for the comment that only spirit does should get 2 votes . . . frankly it is outrageous! Bucks must not be marginalised in this way, it's the thin end of the carrot! Next they will be extending this to include living bucks! Bucks do get things right and does would be lost without them. I should also highlight that the setting up of the wonderful Bunny-mint was the brainchild of a buck- and this is the thanks we get.

Our votes
1) Yes to this from all - that'd be 16 votes then

2) Yes from all for this as well

3) Definite yes as we all got our claws chopped today

4) All apart from Mayflower, Nettle and Hop as they think this is related to Hop they think Hop should have more votes on this issue.

5) Definite yes. If Merris amendment comes into force as well that gives us 64 votes.

6) NOfrom all. THe Spirit buns should create the Houses of Dominant bucks and Does and be allowed to stop proposals if they think they need amendment...

s to us we are doing okay and will post at some stage soon. BUt we have a few health issues at the moment.

I Bramble have decided that I should actually cast my votes from the spirit world.

Here they are then

1 - No as the occasional surprise hug is always welcomed

2 - Yes this is a very serious issue. It should also be noted that if food is left then No-Bun should scoff it all immediately.

3 - No as I had brittle laws and they broke easily if they got too long and it hurts when that happens

4 - No as Hop is a much better name

5 - Yes as knowing the pack they are always confused about everything.

6 - No only spirit does should be allowed two votes as BUcks can't be trusted to do anything right. Although HAwthorns idea might work... Maybe it should be voted on next week.

1 - Yes i think the 2 foots should be able to pick us up when they want. They feed us and care for us and make us better when we are sick, therefore why should they not be allowed a cuddle from their favourite bun when they are feeling a little bit down, under the weather or just need some TLC.
I appose issue 1

2 - I definitely agree with issue 2, ample food should be left for us if the 2 foots go out.

3 - I appose issue 3, i need my claws clipped on regular basis, as i have funny eyes at the moment and clipping my claws stops me scratching my eye and making it bleed.

4 - Agree in principal, but must raise the point about when Hop is no longer wearing it and has become used to the name, what happens then?

5 - I agree that everybunny should have a vote in Bunny mint, that is surely what it is for?

6 - Agreed, spirit buns should have 2 votes. No more though.

Thank you
